When I first joined HOL, I was more likely to be seen talking to the few Hufflepuffs I knew. Then I discovered IRC, where I met people of all different houses - including many Gryffindors. At some point, a few of the Gryffindors that I met on IRC kind of ended up adopting me in a way. It was then that I really got to know Gryffindors. So during my time of communication with lions, I have noticed a few things about them.
1) Gryffindors come up with good nicknames.
The two nicknames that I usually use on IRC are Herms (my most common one), and occasionally, Mionie (which comes from my HOL first name). I acquired both of these nicknames from Gryffindors, the first by Rowan Dream, who was a former member, and the latter from Prof. Zenix James, also a Gryffindor. Then we have Chadwick Cadet who likes to call me Hermaphrodite or Hermite sometimes. These are all very nice nicknames, in my opinion, and nicknames that I would never be able to come up with. Anyway, it’s thanks to Gryffindors that I don’t have to go around as Hermionie everywhere!
2) Gryffindors + sleep = a match made in heaven.
Sometimes I have this issue where every time I’m looking for a certain Gryffindor online, I always see that they’re asleep. And then while I wait for them, I see that they have their Blah|NAP or Derp|SLEEPING nicks on for hours and hours. This whole process just makes me want to go to sleep myself! Then, there are a couple of Gryffindors who are always whining “I WANNA SLEEEEEEP” every 5 minutes while I talk to them. Based on all this, you can tell Gryffindors looove to sleep. Which is why coming out of hibernation for them is a day to be recorded in history.
3) Gryffindors really DO love butterbeer.
I have learned through my IRC Gryffindor friends that the rumor isn’t just a rumor- Gryffindors really DO love butterbeer. Let’s say a random Gryffindor is all *Derp is sad. Then I give them butterbeer and their online faces (more like emotes >_>) shine! And then you have let’s say, like an IRC party, it will always be the Gryffindor that brings the butterbeer. You can totally count on butterbeer-loving Gryffindors to add the fun to the party. Just make sure they don’t hog all the butterbeer.
4) Gryffindors are awesome doll makers.
In HOL, we not only have many talented graphic makers, we also have many talented doll makers. These doll makers use websites such as Madam Malkin’s to create dolls that will help envision our HOL personas. I am also a doll maker, but it was a Gryffindor that first showed me the wonderful world of doll making. Even today I love seeing the newbie Gryffindors picking up on dollmaking and making death to the c-word dolls of their own. Quite a few of my Gryffindor friends, past and present, also have like, tons of dolls on their profiles, with various outfits, backgrounds, and more. So personally, I sometimes end up hearing “DOLLS!” and immediately think of Gryffindors.
Overall, I have learned that Gryffindors are wonderful people. They are fun, hilarious, and caring people. They make up a large part of my “family” here in HOL. I hope that as time goes on, I have the honor to make friends with even more lions.
(Note: This article in no way is meant to offend any Gryffindors. I love you guys too much in order to offend you. This is just meant to be a humorous look on some of the traits I see in my Gryffindor friends. Also, many of the traits I have listed here don’t only apply to Gryffindors, but people of different houses too. There are just some traits that I see are significant in my HOL Gryffindor friends.)
