Title: Enders Game
Genre: Sci-Fi
Age suggested: 9 if you are a really good reader and up.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is a phenomenal book. This Sci-Fi book by Orson Scott Card is about how a young boy who goes by the name of Ender is picked to go to the elite Battle school to become a commander of an army that will defeat the Aliens called Buggers that have attacked earth.
This story starts when young Andrew Wiggin, which is also known as Ender, is having his monitor removed. Ender is a six year old genius boy who is born a loathed “third”. The reason for the loathing is that in this post apocalyptic USA only two children are allowed, meaning young Ender is a child allowed by the law. He has been watched by the allowing government for 6 years, and upon his monitor being removed, goes back to school. But school is not all fun and games. At the end of the first day, the school bullies begin teasing and attacking him for having his monitor removed. To defend himself, Ender brutally beats up the head of the group, another young six year old called Stilson. Though invisible rules state you stop when the other is on the ground, Ender continues for a bit to prevent future attacks of the sort. Though Ender doesn’t find out until year later, Stilson died from the grievous injuries given to him that day.
When he returns home that day he is teased again about having his monitor removed by his eldest, and only, brother Peter. To Ender’s relief, his older sister Valentine comes to his rescue.
When he is shipped up to battle school and quickly moved through the ranks until he becomes a commander of a mini army at the age of nine, which is considered two years younger than the regular age, people start to envy him, and soon he is attacked. Soon after that he graduates to Commander school almost six years early. At commander school, he quickly becomes the best.
This Sci-fi adventure book is a great read and I would highly suggest this fabulous book, especially if you plan on going to go watch the movie!
