by Ivelisse Ada Hey there, HOLers! Let's JUMP right into this month's craft, shall we? What you'll need today is just one piece of rectangular paper. I recommend a thicker paper like construction paper or cardstock.

by Destri Weasley Okay, I know a lot of you are probably already pro’s at this. But I needed to think of a writing topic for this month, and I figured I would do something that I have skills at. So, naturally I chose how to procrastinate! Hope you enjoy!
Well I hope you at least somewhat enjoyed this article! Make sure you come around again to read some more! by Hermionie Miranda I can be found on IRC daily, for at least an hour, but usually more. I can be seen with the nickname “Herms”, or some variation of it. For me, many of the countless times I’ve multitasked, IRC/chatting was something I was doing. I love IRC; it’s one of my favorite parts of HOL. Not to mention all the people I get to talk to, and the hilarious things I get to witness. So for me, a day without IRC can leave me feeling a bit empty inside, like having things happen in my real life and then not being on IRC to immediately report on them. So you can imagine how two days without IRC felt for me, or, basically, no computer use since whenever I’m online I am on IRC.
I didn’t get to come on during Sunday and Monday (August 19th and 20th), because on Sunday I had a holiday and visited quite a few people, and then had visitors myself. I didn’t get a single MINUTE to myself that day! And then the festivities carried themselves on to Monday, where I had guests come over, and then I was whisked off to a relative’s house. I was devastatingly bored there, too. I had literally *no one* to talk to. And I couldn’t help but miss IRC more then. If I was on IRC, I wouldn’t be bored! I’d be surrounded by tons of people to talk to. The people I see on IRC are easier to talk to for me than some of my cousins, including the cousins I happened to visit on Monday. Also there’s the whole missing-big-things-that-happened-while-you-were-gone thing. When I finally came on Tuesday evening (August 21st), I discovered I had quite some catching up to do! For instance, Allyson Celestra (Aly on IRC) came to me saying this in a p2p**, barely minutes after I came on: “OMG HERMS I WANTED TO TELL YOU LOTS OF THINGS ABOUT MY FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL AND PEOPLE AND STUFF BUT YOU WEREN'T ON SO I WAS LIKE FJKDSFJLDSJFLSDFJ”, said Aly. Welcome back to the new school year! Are you all excited to be getting your school supplies? I know I am! However, this year I've realized that there is one school supply that I really dislike: bookmarks. Bookmarks are commonly sticks of card with fancy designs that you can pop in your books to hold your place. For a slightly disorganized person like me, who possesses a crowded bag that crushes every other unsturdy thing in it and who often drops things, this just doesn't do. I often find myself needing to use a paper clip to fasten my bookmark to my current page. Do you ever have the same problem? Well, fear not! I'm here to help. What you'll need for this craft: - Cardstock or construction paper - Pen/pencil - Scissors - Glue/staples - Ruler Optional Supplies: - Markers - Envelopes
This month I'll be teaching you how to make a simple craft. The fun of this one is truly in using it rather than in making it, in my opinion. All you're going to need is a piece of paper - regular printer paper or ruled paper will work, though I recommend a single piece of newspaper as I find it gives you the best results. I encourage you to experiment with all kinds of paper, though! The one thing I will advise you to stay away from is cardstock or construction paper - for this craft you want thin, rectangular paper. Trust me. Now let's end this schoolyear off with a bang, shall we ;)? Take your paper and lay it out flat. Take the top of your page and fold it down. Then, unfold that and fold the paper from one side to the other.

Not many Gryffindors read... by Destri Weasley It’s practically a rite of passage to sneak into the kitchens and have a midnight snack at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Thankfully, I’m here to help you out! Uhm… this article is purely tips that I heard from confidential sources… not like I’ve sneaked into the kitchens… So, onto the article!
by Destri WeasleyHOW TO PLAY DIRTY QUIDDITCH
(Only used on those pesky Raves, of course): It’s the middle of an intense Quidditch match and Gryffindor is close behind Ravenclaw. The referee is not looking your way and you need to get that Ravenclaw off their broom! Unfortunately, Gryffindor’s sometimes forget how to do important things due to us being so busy with completing our work, so let me refresh your memories! 1. Look both ways (like you were taught as a little kid while crossing the street) to make sure no referees are watching, and pick your target. For an example, I will use Lisette Westerveldt, who has kindly offered herself to be my victim *cough* VOLUNTEER! |
