This month the challange was to write a story about the holiday season! It didn't matter what it was or how it was written! Just as long as you enjoyed writing it and it had something to do with one of the holidays that tend to be in December.
By Laurie Lovegood Every year in the pride, the cubs vote for someone to be their class 'Santa Paws.' This person is responsible for matching up the Secret Santa participants, give out gifts, and generally keep up the Christmas cheer in the classrooms. This year, that person is me. I never really thought about what I would do if I were chosen as Santa Paws. I guess I never really thought it was possible that I would be. I guess I'm really observant, though. I know exactly who to match with who.
See, Kevin really likes Alicia, but he has no idea how to talk to her, so buying her a gift would be perfect. Alicia likes him too, but she doesn't think he even knows she exists. They don't talk to one another, and everyone can tell they should just get together. I just want to grab them by the paw and shove them together, but that might make it a bit awkward. I guess I really am the perfect person for the job. Twenty minutes later, I had everyone matched up on a sheet of paper. I walked past the desks and shoved the papers in their bags while they were at lunch. The papers were bright red so I don't think they'll miss them. My next task is to think of ideas for the big Christmas party. Every year that I've seen it's been the same. No one really wants to make an effort to think up something new, so I have to. It'll be a masquerade. Everyone will wear nice masks, and there will be fancy tables set for food. There will be place mats and everyone can place their secret santa gifts at each place whenever they want to. After the dance, everyone will open their presents, and there will be an award for the best gift given. Every day up to the dance, I'll bring in different kinds of candy and set them in front of people. The candy wrappers will have clues as to who will be their secret santa, but I doubt anyone will realize that. It'll be almost completely unnoticeable. After the dance, and after the award has been given for the best gift, everyone thanks me for the best year ever. I'm carried on their paws to the door, where I'm dropped to the floor. I wake up quickly, and realize the whole class is staring at me... in the classroom, not at the dance. "Errr, hey?" I say quietly, coughing embarrassedly. The teacher rolled his eyes. "You've been chosen as the next secret santa." "You mean I was just- oh, okay." I realize that the past few weeks were a dream, but at least now I know exactly what to do for the real thing. |
