When I first received my acceptance letter from Hogwarts, I was stoked. I thought it was going to be perfect, nothing wrong with it at all, but boy, was I wrong. Instantly, I noticed millions of things wrong with it. Here is just a couple of what I've noticed already.
First, the sorting system is horrible. I mean, seriously. They have to do it in alphabetical order? I met some people on the train, and their last names started with A and B! They went first, while I was going last. Don’t you think that us people with last names that start with W and Y should get to go more in the middle? Not last! I was completely and totally excited to get sorted, and then I found out I was last. I almost cried and I would’ve if there hadn’t been so many people in there.
Also, did anyone else notice how inconvenient the classes are placed? I had Herbology and then Potions, and wow, was that a blast! (Yeah, right.) Well, anyways, I was stuck running back to the school to get to potions, remembering that my books for it were in my trunk, running back to the dungeons, and being late multiple times. Even better, I had Transfiguration right after, so I had to run back up to the towers to get to class. It was just hectic and annoying.
Thirdly, did anyone else notice that almost ANYONE can go into the kitchens? The house-elves don’t even care either! All you do is tickle a single pear. That’s unsanitary! I even saw some Slytherin boys doing it. I’m guessing they went for a picnic because I saw them out by the lake with food afterwards. I also noticed that a lot of children used the trick to get out of going to feasts. I don’t know why, they just were! It totally confused me considering I love to sit at the feasts and eat.
Lastly, did anyone else notice how stuffy the common rooms can get? I’m not sure about the other three, but Gryffindor gets hot! Sometimes I want to bring a frying pan in and see if it will cook me some bacon! Yes, it is that hot. I know some people bring cups of water into the dorms just to pour it on themselves. Eww, right? There was one night that everyone went into the common room and slept in there because it was cooler than the dorms. That seems like a lot of things to do just for heat, but if you felt it, you’d understand.
So those were my first few complaints about Hogwarts. Being that Hogwarts is HUGE that’s barely anything, but don’t worry; I have more complaints. I know I’ll be mentioning things in the future like the Quidditch pitch, the courtyards, Hagrid’s tiny hut and other various things like that. Tata!
