Let me just say that here, in front of your eyes, is the very first Journalist incognito Quidditch player! Yes, I know! You can’t believe your ears, and neither can I... well, believe your eyes, ‘cause, I ain’t saying it out loud! But it is the truth; I have been a Quidditch player for two games this year. In both games, I took on the role of a Chaser. And no, I wasn’t being pushed into playing these games!
During these games, I tried to experience the feelings of what a Quidditch player feels. Why do they love to play Quidditch, and just how does it feel to fly around on your broom to toss the quaffle (wait, it’s called that right?) through the loop. And then… SCORE!
Yeah, I wouldn’t know how it feels like, because I haven’t been able to score in either of those games. I think I got a bit closer at scoring in my second game. The first game… let’s just be honest, it was dramatic. I can’t believe my eyes when I look back on that game.
The shivers ran down my spine the moment I saw that they were answering the questions and I just thought, Wait, I still have to read the question, how is this possible??
I have to admit that even though it was a bit scary since I wasn’t able to read the questions, I had a lot of fun during this time as an incognito writer pretending to be a Chaser. It was so much fun to be able to play with the members of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team that I couldn’t hold back to play another game with them.
So even though it was scary, it was fun, and I noticed that during the second game I infiltrated I had even more fun! This was probably because I was able to answer a few questions; I never guessed that was possible for someone like me.
One thing I have to say: it can come in handy to practice a little ahead of the game, just to be able to answer some questions, because without being able to know the answers, it’s kind of hard to answer them. I’m saying this out of experience! Really, for someone who practiced like a few months in first year and only came to the first book or something it was kind of hard.
Hard but lots of fun! As a writer who infiltrated a few Quidditch games it was fun, but I probably won’t make it my profession because it sounds like too much practice and too much work to remember things. I’m still the hibernating actionista around here, so that much work is just too much for me!
