The Review:
Sony has come a long way from PlayStation 3. With the kind of advanced technology in this day and age, the PlayStation 4 has it all. The PS4 has an absolutely sleek and beautiful body compared to its competitor, which is bigger, heavier, and bulkier. Sony has gone digital only with HDMI and optical ports and has removed the audio/video output. It is Sony’s most stylish product they have made so far.
The controller is probably the best feature of the PS4. Scores of gamers have been complaining about the toy-like figure of the Dualshock 3 and how it doesn’t suit the fingers, especially in FPS games. Thankfully, Sony heard our pleas and they have made the best controller the company has ever made. The sticks are farther apart, with semi-concave pits in the middle to suit
The user interface is somewhat similar to the PS3’s XMB and seems neat. You can now have up to 2000 friends but it’s a cluster with no way to manage the list. Social networking plays a major part as gamers can now post clips or snapshots on Facebook or Twitter so that friends can easily see these updates. The bad part about the UI is that once you get many games and updates and such, everything is arranged horizontally which will be tedious to find the desired category and there is no way to arrange it. The PS Vita can also act as your second screen to the PS4; if someone else wants to use the TV, you can just connect your Vita to the PS4 and continue playing! The graphic performance will be hindered of course, but it is a good investment, fit for those who have a family.
In all, the PS4 is an absolutely amazing gaming console, with 1080p graphics, sleek body, and a controller that is a massive improvement from the Dualshock 3. Next month, I’ll be reviewing the Xbox One, so stay tuned and keep gaming!
