As we all know, price is probably the most important factor between these two consoles. The Xbox One is the pricier one at $499 compared to the PS4 at $399. With just that statistic, people would rather put their money on the PS4, though the Xbox One comes with the Kinect Sensor and the PS4 doesn’t come with the PlayStation Camera. Both consoles come with RAM storage of 500GB, which is what you’d expect with next-gen. Xbox One and PS4 consoles now come equipped with Blu-Ray optical drives, with PlayStation previously the only console to have Blu-Ray optical drives.
Connectivity wise, both consoles offer WiFi, Ethernet, optical out, and USB port 3.0, but the PS4 has an additional feature of Bluetooth 2.1. Controllers are also a big talking point. Microsoft haven’t changed their controller much; they just included a new feature called Impulse Triggers for better feedback when shooting in First Person Shooter games. Sony has completely revamped their controller style; as they made the controller snug fit much like the Xbox. There are a few more nifty features along with the controller which includes a track-pad in the centre of the controller, a ‘Share’ option, which means that any accomplishment or trophy you achieve can now be shared on various social networking sites, and an integrated ‘Move’ motion control.
Sony has also included an app where you can buy your games on the PSN store from your device and your PS4 will automatically switch on to download the game. Once it has finished the download, it goes back into ‘sleep mode’. Xbox One also contains Skype, which is very useful. With every pre-order of Xbox One, you get FIFA ‘14 as well, but at the moment, PS4 looks to be in the lead because of its features and the price. The Xbox One is scheduled to be released in the November window but Microsoft hasn't specified a date yet, whereas, the PS4 will be released on November 15th (My birthday! *woot*) in the United States and on 29th of the same month all around the world.
That’s all for this month in the Gaming World, more news on the games to come will be in the next issue so stay tuned and keep gaming and enjoy your first month back to HOL! Until next time!
