Paw Print Staff Positions
The only logical reason for you to be looking at this page is because you obviously are dying to be a Paw Print staff member - and who can blame you! In addition to being a part of the greatest, most successful group to ever hit the HOL hallways, you'll have a ton of opportunities to express your creativity however you most enjoy and to make a lot of friends along the way! In order to get started read through the positions that we have available and then you can either submit the requests to [email protected] or you can fill out our contact page to get the information to us!
There are two main staff titles available for the Paw Print:
Gryffindor Staff
Gryffindor students are able to apply for any staff position listed below, and to become as involved as they want to be. So check them all out freely, as you have no restrictions (unless the position is full) if you are in Gryffindor.
Lurking Lion Staff
This is the title for anyone that wants to be on staff for the Paw Print, but wasn't fortunate enough to be sorted into Gryffindor--I mean, for those that just love hanging out with us lions. In reality though, a staff position for an out of house member is a lot of the same, in that they can have their own column or gallery if they so desire (or come up with something entirely their own!). However, they cannot be Paw Print editors or developers. Essentially, that just means you can't work on behind-the-scenes stuff in the Paw Print, but you can absolutely do everything else! If you have any questions regarding this, again feel free to use our contact page!
The following are the four main staff positions that you can specifically fall under. You can mix and match with some of these titles as well - just check out the staff requirements at the end of the page for further details!

1. Columnists (all houses)
Personal Columns
Overview: The Paw Print is looking for those who wish to start their own personal column in a newspaper. It could be a culinary column, a column on magical beasts, or a column on arts and crafts. It could even be a column of poetry if you like to write poems! Your call. We’d love to see your creative side! Even if it is something such as "doing a monthly interview" or "submitting a monthly riddle or puzzle" that could count as a monthly column!
Requirements: Be able to write for your column once a month on time. The column must be 500 words minimum. If you are submitting poetry it must be 20 lines. This can be one poem or multiple, you will just need 20 lines per month! If you are having a riddle column, then you need to submit 1 riddle per month! And if you are having a cooking column you either need to submit 1 recipe with a description and image, or 2 different recipes.
Application Process: To apply for a columnist position, send in the first submission of the column you would like to write. If the idea and the column is approved, your submission will be in the next month’s edition of the Paw Print. Please also include an introduction/description of your column so that we can add it to the Column description page!

2. Writers (all houses)
Overview: Writers have the chance to write up 1 or more articles per issue. The articles can be on pretty much anything within the HOL Guidelines. HOL Events, new contests, contest results, reviews, etc. We’re really trying to go for a fun magazine atmosphere, so we highly encourage thinking a bit outside of the box. For example, tell us about the amazing Quidditch practice you witnessed, or interview a student who was pranked by first year students, or a psychologist analysis of how Zoki became to be such a points hoarder - anything you like! If you are looking for ideas, or want to run something by me first, feel free to use the contact page. If you’d like I can provide you with a list of unclaimed article ideas the staff currently posted for the current issue.
Requirements: Be able to write at least 1 500-word-minimum article per issue. Check in regularly to the Paw Print forum in the Gryffindor common room (if you are in Gryffindor). Submit your work by the deadline.
Application Process: To apply to be a Paw Print article, write and submit 1 or 2 article(s); 500 word minimum (or about 1 page single spaced in Word). If you are accepted as a Paw Print writer, the articles will be published in the next issue of the Paw Print.
