Hello fellow gamers and welcome to this months issue of ‘The Gaming World!’ The past months have been very exciting; particularly for Sony with its newest model of the Slimmer New PS3 and a FIFA 13 Game Review!
Sony has recently released the new Sony Super Slim PS3. Now what they say is that this model is 25% slimmer than the previous slim and 50% slimmer than the first original PS3. To my opinion, it looks like a grill. I mean if you look at the top cover which is supposed to cover the disc, its made out of plastic and it really does look like a grill. People who used to say the previous slim looked like a grill, look at the Super Slim PS3! It comes with 250 and 500 GB models for now and the official bundles up to date are the Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition and FIFA 13.
PSN has got the latest makeover and my first impressions were ‘WOW!’ It’s a lot more crisper and clearer, its like an HD experience for people with HDMI cables! Loading times are a lot faster than previously and everything seems to me much easier to find due to its categorizing! It may just be me but even others have their opinions on how the new PSN looks like! Now for the reviews!
FIFA 13
EA has definitely stepped up their game this time around. Introduction to the new Skill Games and Tactical Free Kicks and a very upgraded Career Mode is something which cannot be overlooked because these are just a few of the things that make this game amazing! Players have been asking for tweaks for the Tactical Defending which was introduced in the previous instalment and EA has served them with a better experience while defending. Attacking has been majorly improved and players now actually make good runs and try to stay onside; this is mostly noticeable while you are on the break.
The AI has been immensely improved and now the AI makes tactical challenges and can get on the break if they catch the player out of guard. A new first touch system is something that players new to the FIFA franchise or just overall, may hate in the beginning. Now players’ touch is determined on the spin of the ball, the speed of the ball, and the skill of the player able to control the ball well. Big league players like Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi can easily control the balls without hesitation, though lower league players or low skilled players alike may find their touch poor and the ball travelling metres away. This is to make the game more realistic but at times it can be ridiculous. Once you get the hang of the First Touch Control, you’d soon be on your way to becoming a pro!
Skill Games! This year, EA has decided to introduce what actual players do on the training ground! These are mini games which include dribbling with precision, chipping over cardboard boxes, shooting into trashcans, dribble through an obstacle course and many more! Some may find themselves playing the skill games for hours rather than matches because they are just so much fun to play! You can try to beat your friends records but there is no feature of online leader boards in FIFA 13, this which EA has promised for FIFA 14.
Career Mode: EA has finally brought in the feature of international management where you can also be a manager of an international squad depending on your league performance! You now have the ability of counter offers where you can now send back a counter fee if another club wants to buy your player. In addition to that, you can even trade in players and money or just players (You even have a nice offer book animation where you need to sign!) You can also ask the board for an amount of funds for your purchasing needs which is pretty cool!
The EA Match Day system takes record of real life player forms and applies it to you games! The team ratings and player ratings change too depending on their form in real life performances!
Tactical Freekicks is a new add on to in game situations. Players can now fake free kicks and defending players’
wall can now creep forward or backward; but on a cautious note, do not over do it, otherwise the referee might book all the players in the wall!
Overall, this game is just brilliant and it does extremely well to improve the features FIFA 12 has, the graphics haven’t changed much but everything else overlooks the idea that its just an improved version of FIFA 12!
Pat’s Rating: 9.5/10; its not revolutionary but its just amazing with all its new features!
That’s all for this issue! A lot more to come next issue and an anticipated review of the newly released Pokemon Black and White 2! I just need to get the game and I shall do a review! More news about COD Black Ops 2 next issue as well! Anyone wishing to tell me to do any other game reviews or such I shall do it depending on peoples choice, simply PM me to Patrick James! Until next time and keep gaming!
