Any Potterhead familiar with the fandom will have come across this at some point in their Potterhood. Yes, fellow witches and wizards:
Welcome to the wonderful Harry Potter fandom where several talented young witches and wizards came together and brought the magic to life in the mundane Muggle world. I present to you Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, The Moaning Myrtles, Ministry of Magic, The Whomping Willows and tons more. But what precisely IS Wizarding Rock (shortened to Wrock)? In fact, wrock is rock music which evolved after the release of the first Harry Potter movie in 2002. The first wrock band to have been formed was Harry and the Potters in Massachusetts. Yet conventional wrock wisdom states that the first wrock song was written in Los Angeles in the year 2000 and titled “Ode to Harry” sung in Ginny Weasley’s perspective.

After the release of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book in 2007, the two sisters were inspired to start their own wrock band and this led to them posting a video on MySpace in June of 2007. To their intense amazement, they were a hit before the day had ended and Lauren, a singer of the wrock band The Moaning Myrtles, had even covered one of their songs!
“We were trying to find a decent way of getting across our thoughts and feelings about the book, but couldn’t really think of a way to do it until we sat down at the piano and wrote a song about it” – Georgia
Georgia Minnear is the pianist, guitarist and lyricist while Victoria does all the vocals of the group. Together, the two inspirational Slytherins (though they wear red a lot onstage, it’s all part of their plan-hem hem, sly much anyone-disguise as cunning Snakes) produced three albums and attained many a Wrock Award to date. Since 2007, the twins have produced four albums: Secrets of the Darkest Arts (2008), Riddle Me This (2008), Talons and Teacakes (2009) and This Time Around (2010). The band acquired a “Best International Group” gong courtesy of Wizrocklopedia and also were featured in the British Times thanks to their attribute to our Queen, Jo Rowling. To date they have produced and recorded forty three songs together.
I definitely recommend that you take the time to listen to this awe-inspiring band, you sure won’t regret it! The raw energy provides the perfect foundation of music that will touch the hearts of Potterheads everywhere!
