<@Hailey> delicious
This is a story about how my Prefect in Charge and Head Girl tried to kill me. It all started sometime in the summer. I was having this amazing conversation with Hailey about pastas. The conversation ended with talking about canned pastas and how she said they were delicious. Well, at least how canned ravioli is delicious.
As a non-born American I found this disturbingly weird that there is canned pasta and that it can be delicious. Canned food is almost never delicious, as only some canned fruits and fish can be delicious. Canned veggies aren’t delicious at all, but what about canned pasta? Would Hailey be right on that? Or was she having delusions? I decided to go on this amazing discovery and discover if canned ravioli is indeed delicious.
My first mission for this was finding canned ravioli. I was convinced that something like that didn’t exist in the Netherlands. So I went on my amazing search to find canned ravioli. I have to admit that it was a hard search, and it took me a while to find some canned ravioli. For a while, I thought I was right and canned ravioli doesn’t exist in the Netherlands.
Then I found some at a supermarket in a nearby village. I was astonished. Canned ravioli DOES exist, and it exists in the Netherlands! I decided to buy the can; for starters, the can was from one of the strong brands of pasta’s. So I bought it, showed it to Hailey, and I had to promise her to eat it (and let her know how it tasted).
A few weeks after my purchases, I finally decided to try it out. I tried to forget about it and just ignored the canned ravioli. Heck, I even ate fresh ravioli while I had the canned ones in my basement, but it was time to try them out. So I opened the first can, which was the Grand’Italia one.
Just the sight of the canned ravioli made me believe this NEVER could taste delicious. It just didn’t look good. I had a feeling that because of that it also wouldn’t taste good. But as brave of a lion that I am, I didn’t back down. I just had to try it. The courage of trying it out overruled my fear of not eating something decent.
I warmed it up, put it on a plate and sat down. I stared at it. I just stared at it before I took a small bite. I think I had like four to five bites before I put it down. I couldn’t finish it. I find the ravioli soggy, the sauce didn’t taste yummy and the filling of the ravioli was also not nice. It was just not delicious. My dinner that day ended with that.
The next day, I decided to go for the other brand. Maybe I would be luckier with the cheaper brand; who knows? After opening this can, once more I was starting to get my doubts at trying this one out. The contents of this can also looked not so delicious. It almost looked the same as the contents of the other brand.
Once more my courage (probably more like curiosity) won. I did the same thing as I did the day before; I warmed the ravioli and put some on a plate for myself. This time I stopped after two bites.
All in all, my discovery is that I don’t think canned ravioli is delicious. I dislike it because it doesn’t taste well. The sauce isn’t yummy and has like no taste at all, even after putting some Parmesan on it. Besides that, I also think that the ravioli itself isn’t delicious. The pasta dough is soggy - overcooked, as you might say, and the filling isn’t tasty. When it comes to eating Ravioli, I would go for non-canned ones. Preferably with some homemade sauce!
