A Frozen review
Ooh… ehM… Gee… Disney released a new movie. After surprising us with Wreck-It Ralph, a movie that seemed to be a movie made by Pixar, and Pixar surprising us with a movie you would expect to be produced by Disney named Brave, you would almost suspect that both have switched movie companies. This time, Disney has proven that they haven’t forgotten how to make a true Disney movie.
After a short break from their last fairy tale movie, Tangled, they are back on track with filming a fairy tale, with expected elements; princesses who are in love, handsome princes, and magic. This is everything you would expect in a movie full of fantasy and catchy songs. It's a movie that you can watch from young to old.
In the beginning of the movie, Anna and Elsa play happily with each other. Elsa knows magic from birth, which makes her capable of creating ice. This is an ability that Anna loves, since Elsa can make snowmen in mid-summer or ice rinks. But nothing can stay this way, and the fun suddenly chances into danger. The parents of Elsa and Anna decide to stop the dangers by locking Elsa in her room. This way, she can’t do any more harm to Anna.
The sisters drift apart, since Elsa is consumed by fear and Anna just thinks that Elsa doesn’t like her anymore. They don’t see each other for years, until Elsa is gets crowned. But during the coronation everything goes wrong. Elsa accidentally freezes the whole town and then flees. She decides to leave behind her old live. In the meantime, the never ending winter is still there. At this point, Anna decides to convince her sister to come back and stop the winter.
The climax of the movie is when Elsa flees the town to the mountains. There she disposes of her past. Disney has created a beautiful scene together with some beautiful sound. In this scene Elsa creates her own castle out of ice, while she sings a very catchy song, one that is a sing along for young and old. It is a song that gives you the feeling as if you are listening to Defying Gravity from Wicked.
The downside to this scene is that after this scene, the movie turns a little bit too sweet. Since there isn’t a villain, the producers decided to concentrate on loving your family. However, the comical scenes of a funny looking Snowman makes for a lot of fun in the movie.
In the end, I liked this movie. It resembled a true Disney movie, even though it isn’t like a Disney Classic.
