Isn't the robot just adorable? Now you guys can understand why I got noisy! Well apparently the Robocup World Cup 2013 is this year in the Netherlands. Let’s be more specific it’s in the city were I go to college, hence the fact that every were I drove with my car I was seeing robots. Well okay it was only one Robot. But it was an adorable looking robot!
If I recall it correct last year the Robocup was being held in Mexico City and I think that or at least if I remember it correct some Dutch dudes won the Robocup. Maybe that’s the reason why this year’s World Cup is being held in the Netherlands? But well that doesn’t really matter.
Let’s just say that because of this adorable robot I was getting interested in what it means. Or what lovable geeks do during this World Cup, because let’s be honest who wouldn’t be getting noisy when seeing a robot?
So as the noisy person I am I went on a discovery across the Internet. Well I could go to the Robocup itself. But let’s be fair, I’m lazy and then again a bit busy with other stuff then to go and watch the Robocup.
So on the internet I found the site of the Robocup. Who would have thought there is a site for this World Cup?! Well I obviously thought about that, but still I had to look for it.
So okay on this site there was an explanation about what the Robocup means. Apparently during the Robocup people show of their Robots in different kind of divisions. So there is Robocup Soccer, Robocup Rescue, Robocup@Home, Robocup Junior and Robocup Demo!
I would say I don’t really have to explain Robocup Soccer. Obviously in this division Robots are playing soccer against each other! So let’s go on to Robocup Rescue. At Robocup Rescue the robots have to go into a maze and have to search and rescue. The rest of the explanation was a little jibber jabber to me. So I’m leaving the explanation at this.
So then we have Robocup@Home. Robocup@Home is the division that focus on the use of Robots at home. So how well can a Robot put groceries away and yada yada. You guys probably get what I mean. So then we got Robocup Junior, which is for the kids and is divided in three divisions, Dance, Rescue and Soccer. And last there is the Robocup Demo. Which focus on the industrial use of Robots. Robocup Demo is also known as Robocup@Work, good name for it right?
So that was a small explanation of the Robocup! And if you are still a bit confused look at this video to see a bit explanation about the Robocup.
