the month of fall and Halloween
it brings candy, costumes, and fear
leaves changing from their nomral green
The pumpkins carved and all aglow
with a candle burning inside
a scary face or two on show
or a face that's grinning wide
The costumes at their very best
whether they are fun or scary
from the Wicked Witch of the West
to monsters that are tall, hairy
Zombies, monsters, clowns, and black cats
scary ghosts made from old white sheets
witches with their pointed black hats
running all around the dark streets
The whole night going door to door
all dressed up for trick-or-treating
hoping there will be sweets in store
gathering candy for eating
