Sasha woke up early one morning. A glance at her alarm clock told her that there was still plenty of time to go before she had to get ready for school. She sat up in her bed and after stretching, she looked outside the window and almost leaped out of bed.
She could see that the leaves of the tree outside her bedroom window had started changing colour. She was really excited about this as autumn was easily her favourite season. She often found herself mesmerized by the array of colours that the leaves turned.
While she knew she would soon begin to miss the warmth that summer provided, especially as the weather grew colder, she wouldn't miss the dullness of summer. She scoffed at the thought that some people considered autumn to be dull, with brown leaves that tended to shrivel up. Summer only had greenery to offer, whereas autumn not only had green and brown, but red, orange and even purple and pink.
With each day that passed, Sasha would diligently sweep the leaves off the path leading to her front door. It was never a chore for her, as it gave her an excuse to admire the trees surrounding her, not that she really needed an excuse. She would also try name some of the leaves she saw on the ground, testing herself to see how much she knew.
Another thing Sasha enjoyed doing was making crafts with some of the leaves she found, such as decorating T-shirts and making prints, some of which she would keep for herself, while giving the rest away as presents to family and friends.
While Sasha always enjoyed what each season had to offer, whether it was the blossoming of flowers in spring, the promise of snow in winter or days spent at the beach during summer, autumn would always be her favourite season.
