"I don't think this is a good idea," Leanna murmured as she yawned and tried to rub the sleepiness out of her eyes. It was around two in the morning on Easter. Way too early for a Gryffindor to be up, especially during holidays.
"Well, I think it's a perfect idea!" Catie chirped. She was the morning person of the two and the mastermind behind the plan that the pair of second years were about to execute. She was in her usual school uniform consisting of black shirt and skirt, with an emblem of the Gryffindor house. But this day, if one could call such an ungodly hour 'day', Catie also sported giant, white bunny ears, completed with a fluffy tail and whiskers.
"Tell me again, what exactly is this Easter Bunny," Leanna frowned and tried to recall the explanation from months before when the pair of friends started painting infinite number of eggs for this day.
Catie tried not to laugh, because she had promised Leanna that she would never make fun of her best friend's ignorance of Muggle culture. Instead, she patiently explained, "It's this huuuuuge, soft, fluffy bunny that comes to your house or parks and hides all the goodies. Mostly chocolate bunnies, eggs, pretty painted Easter eggs and the like." Leanna shuddered and thought if she were the only one who found the idea of a giant rabbit terrifying. She wasn't about to admit it though. "And the purpose of our plan, the 'Easter Egg Hunt'? Last time I checked, our house mascot was a lion, not a giant bunny."
"It's fun. You know how to have fun, right?" Catie tried so hard not to roll her eyes, instead opted for hiding the colorful eggs behind the fireplace. She ignored Leanna's squawk of protest when the eggs were put in her hands. Catie went back to placing the eggs in most unbelievable places she could think of, like in flower pots under the soil, in dusty, cobweb filled corners, on the portraits much to their indignation and even in their Head of House's slippers.
It was hard work, but by the time six a.m. rolled, all one thousand eggs were hidden. Students slowly began arriving in the common room, in various states of being awake, but most perked up at the mention of the Easter Egg Hunt. It wasn't long, before first eggs were found and the hunt was in full motion.
Catie was immensely proud of herself and she leaned to Leanna, saying, "We should do this every y-" when an angry shout interrupted not only the girls' conversation, but the hunt as well. Leanna's eyes grew wide when she looked into the direction from where the shout came. "Wasn't that..." she meeped, when one angry professor half-walked, half-stumbled down the stairs, holding one pair of ruined pink slipped, egg yolk dripping down to the floor.
"Who did this?!" the Gryffindor Head of House screamed, looking around the common room for the culprit, her eyes finally resting on two very guilty looking second years, who tried very much to disappear if that were possible.
"Professsssor, we were just hiding the eggs for the hunt, so the lions would be happy and we hid some for you, so you could be happy," Catie was running her mouth, and suddenly cut off when she got poked by Leanna's elbow. The explanation didn't soften the angry look on the professor's face one bit. "Was the idea against the rules madam?" Leanna asked, using a mellow, submissive tone.
"The hunt is all okay to organise, but you were supposed to BOIL the eggs first!" Professor screamed and thundered back into her room, trying to sort out the mess in her slippers.
"Oooooh, I knew I forgot to do something," Catie grinned, but it was quickly wiped clean by the smack on the head Leanna aimed her way. "I told you this wasn't a good idea," Leanna rolled her eyes and walked away to participate in the Muggle festivities.
